47 Ronin Gravesite at Sengakuji Temple Japan
As long tradition dictates, honoring incense is placed on one of the graves of the faous 47 Ronin Samurai, also known as the 47 Ronin of Ako or the Ako Gishi. This particular grave is unique, as it has a Buddhist figure carved above it. Located at Sengakuji Temple in the Takanawa neighborhood of Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan. The 47 Ronin all perished by seppuku in 1703 after avenging the death of Asano Takuminokami, the Feudal Lord of Ako. This was a series of events which became famously known as a meaningful part of Japanese history, the Ako Incident.
