Sunset over Snaefellsjokull Glacier, Iceland
A magnificent pink, yellow and orange sunset meanders across the sky over the Snaefellsnes Peninsula of Iceland in autumn. This photograph was taken while standing on the ground of Budir, with the Snaefellsjokull Glacier visible in the distance, surrounding by other volcanic hills across the landscape. The snow covering the top of the ancient glacier shows stark white against the fantastic colors of the sky. Budahraun Lava Field is visible extending far across the foreground towards the glacier in the distance. This color lasted only several minutes before disappearing for night to appear, and later with it, the Aurora borealis, which offered many photographic opportunities, the results of which are also available to license.
If you zoom in on this photograph or view it on a large screen, a scientifically unexplained circle of multi-colored orbs are sitting on the moss of the lava field just to the left of center near the bottom of the image - to some, this would given credence to the many stories of elves living throughout Iceland's natural landscapes!
