Dragon of the Northern Lights over Iceland
In this rare and unique image, the head of a fire breathing dragon appears in the northern lights (Aurora borealis) over lake Kleifarvatn on the Reykjanes Peninsula of Iceland, 9-28-2016. Above the volcanic hills on the distant lake shore, its neck rises up and its head faces to the left so we see a side profile of it. Fire pours from its mouth across the sky as a particularly bright stretch of Aurora, reflected clearly in the water below. Details such as the vertical pupil of its eye, the horn on the upper side of its head and its elongated snout/upper jaw after even accentuated in the northern lights!
As with all of my work, this is an original photograph processed minimally in Lightroom to reflect the natural beauty of the original moment captured. The dragon is completely natural and a gift of nature to appear for us all to see!
