Northern Lights across the night sky over Snaefellsnes, Iceland
Green and purple northern lights (Aurora borealis) blanket the night sky in a sublime glow in this photograph taken in late autumn, 2016. The tops of hills formed from volcanic rock can be seen in the distance at the base of the photo while most of the space is given to behold the spectacle of the night sky. Taken at Budir, Snaefellsnes, Iceland.
Incredibly, the outline of an angel-like form can be seen in this image as well, glowing as one of the brightest spots of the Aurora at that moment, towards the bottom at center. Some have said that they see the purple of the Aurora behind the form to appear like a dress trailing behind her and the brighter patches above and behind the form to be her wings. On closer inspection of the image, one can see the form of a whole body with head, torso and legs glowing their in the sky.
